What is DMLS/SLM?
Selective laser melting (SLM), sometimes referred to as direct metal laser melting, uses a laser to melt metal powder in a continuous layer. The machine completely melts the powder before adding another layer of powder above the melting layer. SLM melts the metal particles together and completely forms a uniform sheet. The main difference between SLA and SLS lies in the materials used in each process. SLS can be applied to plastics, glass and ceramics, while SLM is only used for metal alloys.
